ADP Presents: The Art of Better.

[MUSIC PLAYING. ]
[DESCRIPTION: Martha Bird speaks. ]
No matter where you are and no matter what time period you're from, we value being part of a community. We want to be close to our friends and family. We seek meaning for ourselves as individuals, where we can be acknowledged and recognized.
[DESCRIPTION: Martha walks through an office. ]
My name is Martha Bird. I'm a cultural anthropologist. And I work for ADP.
[DESCRIPTION: Exterior view of ADP headquarters. ]
I look for patterns. I study beliefs, routines, aspirations, and behaviors to inform the digital tools we're building at ADP.
[DESCRIPTION: Martha views papers under lamplight. ]
I often look at new technologies in reference to what is the human need behind that.
[DESCRIPTION: Martha stands in a server room. ]
You have the assembly line. You can imagine in the '50s, people had to work at a stationary terminal. And then you get into the PC in the '80s. And now you have the mobile phone. And people can kind of work anywhere.
ADP as a company is really aware of the importance of having a human perspective on technology. And that's one of the reasons I'm here, is to try to surface what it is that people actually need in the tools that they use.
[DESCRIPTION: Martha converses with a colleague in a cubicle. ]
I spend a lot of time deeply hanging out with people. I do a lot of asking questions that seem straightforward to people who are insiders.
[DESCRIPTION: Martha works with a colleague. ]
I'm able to bring together human insights and observations that, when applied, can impact one in six workers in the US.
[DESCRIPTION: Various floors of the office are viewed. ]
When employees work on teams where they feel that they are respected, they have a tendency to produce more. So I think companies understand that in order to create greater productivity, you have to really work on some of these levers of engagement.
At ADP, I feel really supported on a number of levels. I think the company has used all of the factors that conspire to actually make a more productive workforce. I have a great team that respects my opinion. It's about being authentic. It's about being open to diversity and different perspectives. I get to wake up every day and do exactly what I love doing, just really spending time with people, understanding people. It's about tending to other people and tending to yourself.

What are ADP and our associates doing to stay safe at work during COVID-19?

[MUSIC PLAYING]
[TEXT] We are not all back in the office yet, but when we are ready…
What is ADP doing to keep our associates safe at work during COVID-19?
ADP is doing many things to make the environment safe for our associates' return to the office.
We are implementing policies and procedures to keep our associates safe.
Providing associate training on new protocols.
Enhancing climate control systems for increased airflow and filtration.
Providing hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies for personal office equipment.
Re-configuring workspaces to allow for proper social distancing.
Implementing daily cleaning regimens with increased frequency.
Updating cleaning and disinfecting protocols.
Implementing seating capacity limits.
What are the associates' responsibilities to keep themselves and others safe when they return to the office?
Complete associate training on safety protocols before reporting to the office for the first time.
Staying home if you are unwell.
Take daily health assessments and submit results via an app before coming to work every day.
Pass a temperature check before entering the building.
Follow badging policies.
Avoid face-to-face meetings with more than four people.
Wash hands frequently, or use hand sanitizer when hand washing is not possible. Social distance 6 feet / 2 meters.
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks, in the building when not in your personal workspace.
And more.

Transforming From the Inside Out: Leaders Share What They Love About ADP

[MUSIC PLAYING]
[DESCRIPTION]

Text: FairyGodboss presents Not Your Mother's ADP: Transforming from the Inside Out, a Facebook Live event featuring: Lorraine Barber-Miller, Martha Bird, and Linda Mougalian.

[SPEECH: ROMY]
Could you tell us what do you love about working at ADP?
[DESCRIPTION]
Text: Martha Bird, Business Anthropologist, ADP
[SPEECH: MARTHA]
Well, I think first of all, I really love my team. It is like a family to me. It's made up of really diverse professionals from a variety of fields, experts in their field, led by what I consider an exemplary manager who I've never had one quite to this quality. So it's a wonderful environment.
And as the only social scientist, frankly, I'm sort of the emotional side of it because they're all kind of rational. I like that mixture. I like that place. So I come to work every day looking forward to seeing my co-workers. And I think having a team that you feel really good about and that you respect and respects you is what it's all about.
[DESCRIPTION]
Text: Romy Newman, Co-Founder, FairyGodboss
[SPEECH: ROMY]
That says a lot. And it really does come down to that at the end of the day. Did you enjoy your day and did you feel like you got good work done.
Lorraine, how about you? You're here eight or nine months. What do you love about ADP so far?
[DESCRIPTION]
Text: Lorraine Barber-Miller, Chief Marketing Officer, ADP
[SPEECH: LORRAINE]
So what I really love is I think of ADP as working at the intersection of three things I'm very passionate about, which are technology, innovation, and talent. And I really believe that there is so much untapped opportunity for us as a company.
We have such a compelling value proposition that is truly unmatched and superior. But we have yet to tell our story. And so that is the mission that we are embarking upon.
And both Martha and Linda are part of that brand reinvention work that I talked about earlier. It's really about how do we tell a new story about ADP that has never been told before. We have permission. Our clients, the market, our own associates want to hear that story. And so that is what we're crafting together to be unveiled very shortly. So I'm just really, really looking forward to doing that and really building out that future legacy for the brand and for the company.
[SPEECH: MARTHA]
So I love what Lorraine loves too.
[LAUGHTER]
[SPEECH: ROMY]
Sounds like tremendous opportunity on the horizon which is very exciting. Linda how about you to close us off, a 21-year veteran of ADP.
[DESCRIPTION]
Text: Linda Mougalian, Division Vice President, Product Marketing, ADP
[SPEECH: LINDA]
So I'd say that one of the things that I love most about ADP is the fact that there's so much trust. So I've been here for almost 20 years. But I've had, you know, I call it I've had like seven careers since I've been here because once you're in the company and you know the folks, you can move around. And they'll give you a chance.
I came in product management. And I've been given the opportunity to work in strategy and business development and sales and marketing. And I've just had opportunity after opportunity of partnerships, start-ups, all of that within one place.
And I don't know any place else that I could have had such extensive and robust experience in one company, but doing it all the while with having the continuity of the team that I love, people that are great to work with, and just feeling like I've got one foot on solid ground while I'm trying and attempting new things. And I think for me that was just-- I couldn't have replicated that any place else.
[SPEECH: ROMY]
So there's real opportunities for professional development and even for intrepreneurship where you're building new businesses from the inside.
Well, it has been a pleasure talking to all three of you. I sense tremendous excitement and opportunity from you. It feels like it's such a great time to be at ADP as you undergo this transformation. Thank you so much for joining us today.
[SPEECH: ALL]
Thank you.
[SPEECH: ROMY]
Thank you.
