GLENN: My name is Glenn, and I'm a VP and head of executive and technical talent acquisition at ADP. And I've been here for six years. When I think about our executive roles, I like to tell everyone, that the role that you move in, it's not a landing place. It's a launching pad.

So when you think about your career, if you just know that this role that you're in is your last role, you're going to find yourself somewhat demotivated to be able to continue to grow yourself. But we've seen it so many times because we moved so many people internally as well. We've seen people at the executive level take a lateral, so they get a different BU, different function, different flavor. And I think it's important for them to be able to get a diversity of the business perspective to see what's different.
I've seen people that may have to leave a certain function to go to a totally different area. We've seen it happen so many times, where people from product go into strategy. People from strategy go into the business. We see so much movement around.
So I think it really comes down to somebody identifying where they are, but then also where they want to go and then start to figure out, what are the steps in between to help them get there? And again, that might be some coaching. It might be some training. It might be some mentoring, whatever it is. But we as an organization really support that.
And again, I think it goes back to taking the time to really build relationships, develop that network, which is super important. But I think it's also important to understand where the gaps are and how somebody can go about filling them.

ASHLEY: My name is Ashley. I'm a vice president of human resources, and I have been with ADP since 2015.
I've seen at ADP opportunities as you continue to move laterally and or move up in the organization. I think our org has done a fantastic job at bringing in external hires, particularly at the executive level, the types of programs that we put in place for our executives to learn about themselves very early on. We have a very great program that aligns people, not only to their role but to their stakeholders.
And so I think that that's important coming in, because it takes the guesswork out of how do I get to know these people? What's really on their mind? How do they want me to function in this role? What do I need to do to be successful? It takes all the guesswork out of it.
And that's huge when you join a new organization, and you're thinking, how quickly will I get up to speed? How am I going to make connections? ADP does that for you because they thrive on people being successful.
So I would say joining externally into ADP, particularly at an executive, is there's no room for failure. We are setting you up for success from day one. And I think having that opportunity only just shows our associates that are coming in, how strong our culture is and how much we genuinely care about the talent of our organization.
